Recently David won the Resene Colour Award in the NZ Geographic Annual Photography Awards, for a second year running. From 3000 images, his close up image of  the Champagne Pool at Waiotpu Thermal Reserve was awarded for the best use of colour. David chartered a helicopter with the door off, and got the pilot to bank sharply so he could photograph straight down, using a 400mm lens, and with the camera bolted to a Kenyon gyroscopic stabiliser.

New Photo Tours

Join David on one of our new small group photo tours. We will be running regular full day tours of Dunedin to coincide with cruise ship visits, with a maximum group size of just five photographers.

In autumn/fall and winter, we will be running five and seven day tours in New Zealand's South Island, again with a maximum of five photographers.

We are also taking five week self drive Africa adventure tours using 4x4s with roof tents. While there are many once in a lifetime photographic opportunities, these tours are also fantastic for non-photographers. Our Dec 2019/Jan 2020 is booked out. Contact us to enquire about future tours.

The results of 3000 entries into the NZ Geographic Photographer of the Year competition were announced recently at an awards ceremony in Auckland. Our drone aerial of tulip fields in Southland won the Resene Colour Award, and was runner up in the aerial category.

On another front, we've bought a new van, have obtained the neccessary small passenger licneces, and are about to start a new aspect of our business taking small groups on travel photo workshops and tours. Initially we'll be taking day tours in the Dunedin region, but are planing multi-day travel photo tours around New Zealand, as well as to international destinations. We've recently loaded over 2500 new images from a major photoshoot in Chile, Boliva, Peru, Brazil and Argentina.

Apologies to everyone inconvenienced by the outage to our website and email in the first half of January 2017.

An incompetent domain registry company in the USA suspended our domain name because they couldn't verify who we were. It turns out they didn't bother to actually try to contact us on any of the contacts they've been using for the last 15 years.

Unfortunately their support team turned out to be no more capable and it took them a further week and a half to reverse their appalling error.

However we are back up and running now, looking forward to fulfilling your photo needs from our 50,000 online images.

In other news we are finishing loading images from Vietnam and Hong Kong, and also preparing for our next major shoot in autumn - South America including Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil and Argentina.

We have recently started loading some of our new Vietnam images, and have also recently released two new pictorial books -The Queenstown Experience and Above Auckland

Our fifteenth book, Above Auckland, was recently published. It is a 160 page hard cover book, with aerial views from all over New Zealands largest city. After a large Asian photo shoot, images of Cambodia have just been loaded, with Vietnam and Hong Kong images still to come.

Recently David spent several hours in a helicopter above Auckland to shoot aerial images for an upcoming book. To see a selection, check out our New Images Gallery , which also contains recent aerials of Hamilton and Wellington, and drone aerials.

New NZ images are coming soon, including images from a major aerial shoot of the Wellington region. After 20 years of aerial photography from helicopters, we have recently bought a drone for aerial photography, and are impressed with initial results from locations around Dunedin.
